A night out, but who can watch the kids?
By Kate M. Jackson, Boston Globe Correspondent
March 18, 2007 (Excerpts)
For parents of young children, the right baby sitter can mean the difference between going out on the town and staying in watching "CSI" on Saturday night. Still, many parents linger in domestic captivity because they believe finding someone to watch Junior these days is even more challenging than securing a last-minute reservation at Capital Grille.
"There is no longer a village to help raise our children," said Pat Cascio, president of the International Nanny Association. People today move around for their jobs and don't have the social network in their neighborhoods any more. Also, younger kids tend to be booked up in extracurricular activities and don't have time for baby-sitting, she said.
